I am a simple man and I am one of the first two people that started to coach baseball in Israel

My name is: Shay Weiss, I am a simple man and I am one of the first two people that started to coach baseball in Israel along with Dr. Jerry Glantz. I was the first sportsman softball national player to ask recognition from the Israeli army directly from Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.

Before I begin this letter I wish to tell you why Israel doesn't succeed in sports and the reasons for it.
Take for example Miki BerkovichTal BrodyDoron JamchiOded KatashEyal BerkovichHaim Revivo or Yossi Benayoun. None of those big names” athletes who played either basketball or soccer in Israel ever coached at the same time that they played.
None of them were coaching at the same time that they ware playing in the national team or in there best preferment’s in there life.
In Israel First they don't have sports grudge. Second they don't have enough appreciation to secondary sports. Third the sports budget is not enough & mainly going to football or basketball. Fourth there is not enough love for other sports because in school the kids are playing 90% only football or basketball between classes. Lastly the sport authority parties are corrupt and only supply money for football & basketball and the leftovers are given to the other sports. It needs to be exactly the opposite really other fields needed more budget then football or basketball. (Those sports authority losers they can't get it & they could not care less.)
I'm Shay Weiss And I am one of the first two people that started to coach baseball in Israel along with Dr. Jerry Glantz. I was the first sportsman softball national player to ask recognition from the Israeli army directly from Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin.
I tried to open up the way for excellent baseball and softball players. However in Israel you will only get recognition after you have died in a terrorist act war or being wounded in the army including a car accident this is regrettable. I'm convinced now that “the former Israeli Shay Weiss has done his job” he can leave.
I guess there is something wrong with meI’ve been playing softball since I was fourteen years old and I've always wanted to prove that as an Israeli I'm better than some Americans.
I am now forced to quit softball not because I am not good enough but because two men have decided to control people like marionettes and they have decided that I am not good enough to train the Israeli youth team for ages 16-18. This decision was made after I trained the same team for the world championship which took pale in July 2000 at the Netherlands. In this championship we won 3rd placed yearning us a qualification for the world championship at Australia a championship that I will not take a part in. I have no intentions on hurting Goose Gillett or Yossi the two different coaches but in some way they must be better than me. One of them gives the players weird nicknames and the other one does not understand the game as he argues with the referee about why the kid was out after a bunt in a third strike.
I would also like to thank youAmi Baran national player for offering me to train a women’s team in the futureand for the offer to be sent to a trainers course in the United States but I am not interested in any of these offers. I wanted to see my efforts and achievements at the world championship in Australia. In additionI would like to ad that the nomination was made behind my back while I was in training for the Maccabiah Games as a captain of the national tem & also I was in training for a course in Wingate Instituteas I was thinking to be a trainer in the future.
As it seemsI am done with softballI would be glad to be remembered as a player who has played at Israel’s best teamswith the most talented players that Israel has ever had while I was fighting to win every single game. I have created a generation of players such as Dan RotemShlomo LipetzIlan SpiraTomer GlantzTal KitaokaRani BenderTomer Solomon and many more. I think that my contribution to Israel’s softball & baseball has not died yet. I was devastated and that is why I don't play with the same passion and love I once played with and that is why I submitted my resignation.
This could have ended differently only if President Bob Kessler or Ami Baran had called and said that they wanted me back. Ami thank you for calling me and attacking me as you must be an under miner (Ami this doesn’t make sense) I guess I am now home because I don not like hypocrites like you. I have to admit that you are the last person in the world that I expected such a thing from considering the fact that for so many years we have been teammates & we have played in the Israeli softball National Team.
Softball Chairman Bob Kessleryou did not even bother to call me and ask me to cancel my resignation. I would like to thank the team coachRichard Duffy for calling me and asking me to come back to the Israeli team. I would like to say goodbye to all the players that I have had the honor to play with and against. I wish you all to have your last game just like my last game in the leg: butting HR2x3bb. As the pitcher Sholom Menorah asks fearfully“Where would you like your next strike?” I hope that I have stepped aside giving the chance for the younger generation wishing them all the best. This was not the way that I had planned to end my career playing ball for more then 20 years but unfortunately I was defeated by the politics of the ISA & board. To youBob and AmiI hope that you will not act the same way with the next generation of players. I feel worse than someone that contributes so much to others & one of 3 people that started the developing of baseball in Israel has been left on the street! I am proud of everything that I did for the Israeli national team. I wonder Bob Kessler or Ami Baran whether you will sleep well at nights considering you actions.
I apologize to the team membersfor whom I should have played with or coach.
I am convinced that Bob and Ami will both have different versions of the storyand Ami will tell his many “stories” of how hard he worked for me as a second coach in preparations for Australia world championship.
Good luck to the Israeli team without meyou might have seen me in the crowds in Australiaand I was there. Special thanks for: Shlomo ShubitzJerry Glantzand TitoWho contribute a lot to softball and never receive in return or respect from the Israel softball Association.
Best Regards,
Shay Weiss
